Skittles

Oil on canvas, 22" x 28." March 2007. I am a big fan of oil as a medium because the color is so rich and alive. I am also infatuated with paint coming off the canvas giving a 3-D effect, taking up space we think belongs to us.

Foolish Games

Oil and acrylic on canvas, Gallery Wrap Canvas, June 2007, 24" x 36"

With this painting, I really wanted to explore how one color that would normally be portrayed as innocent and simple can become complex by different textures. The interaction of these textures (glossy vs. matte, gritty vs. smooth) trying to get along in the piece is similar to how we try to get along with our peers on an everyday basis.
